The site is 0.17 hectares in size and is currently vacant with the fire station having been demolished. The site is mainly flat, slightly falling away to the south west corner and has large areas of hard standing still in existence from the fire station. It fronts Highwoods Crescent, which is a relatively wide road with a mix of brick and rendered two storey semi detached properties. There is green space to the north with a path that runs through to Manvers Road and the vegetation next to the boundary provides substantial screening. To the south is a nursing home operated by Cambian and a building operated by the Territorial Army.
