| Description | Sea cadets’ residence and linked walkway and refectory and social block. 1959-61. Sheppard Robson and Partners. Brick and timber with slate hanging to refectory block and slate cills to cadets’ block. Cadets’ block of 5 storeys; rectangular plan;; broad linking open walkway to one end through which rises circular concrete boiler house chimney, and attached to this the refectory block, of one main storey with a basement. Senior and cadets; common rooms occupy either end, while refectory occupies most of length of the building beneath three shallow counter-pitched roofs. Fully glazed. Internally timber lined, with top lighting; folding timber screen with glazing above. original painted windows throughout, except for senior common room, where original loggia is now glazed in using UPVC. | Facts about Description |
