Notes	HARBOTTLE HOLYSTONE GRANGE NT 90 SE 21/89 Woodhouses Bastle- 21/10/53 house (formerly listed as Woodhouses Pele GV II* Bastlehouse. Dated 1602 WP BP TAM. WP stands for William Potte who owned land here. The building however may be C16 and the datestone an insertion. Random rubble. Largely roofless but some stone slates remain. 2 storeys. 37 ft. by 25 ft. Ground floor door in north gable end has slightly-chamfered alternating-block surround. Above the lintel is the inscribed datestone with a short hoodmould over and a relieving arch on top. This is an unusual arrangment and may be an insertion. On long east side 2 small slit windows on ground floor and 2 square windows to lst floor with holes for iron bars. West side has two C19 4-light mullioned windows. 1st floor doorway in south gable is C19 replacement. Interior: tunnel-vaulted ground floor. Later stone stairs pierce vault in south east corner. Shielings and Bastles: Ramm McDowall and Mercer. HMSO 1970. ,	Facts
