Notes NU 02 SW LILBURN LILBURN TOWER 7/92 West Lodge, walls and gate piers (Previously listed 21.9.51 as Lilburn Tower West Lodge) 11 Lodge and gateway. 1830-40 by John Dobson. Ashlar with stone roof. L-shaped lodge. One storey with attic. Neo-Tudor. One-bay gabled front has canted mullion-and- transom bay window with diamond-paned casements and parapet with roll-moulded coping. Similar coping to solid porch in angle of L. Windows on returns and to rear have hoodmoulds which continue as dripstone. Hoodmoulds and diamond panes also to windows in gables. Big, stone ridge stack with 2 tall, diagonally-set corniced chimneys. Left of lodge, plain walling ending in 2 square piers with concave caps. Gateway to right of lodge: square corniced piers with heavy, concave tops and lead eagles. Flanking arcades of 5 pointed arches with wrought iron grilles between, all on chamfered base and capped by roll-moulded coping.
