Notes | NT 93 SW KIRKNEWTON KIRKNEWTON 3/99 The Old Vicarage GV II Vicarage, now house. Late C18 - early C19. Large additions of early C19,and later C19 alterations. Random rubble with ashlar dressings and Welsh slate roof. L-plan. 2 storeys, 6 windows. Entrance front: central Victorian door with segmental head, mullioned overlight and multi-moulded surround. Similar detail to side light on left of door. Floating cornice over both. To right of door a shallow single-storey 2-light bay window with stone pent roof. Deeper square bay window to left of door has slate pent roof. Also one 4-pane sash in chamfered surround. On 1st floor six 12-pane sashes in chamfered surrounds. Gabled roof with large hipped dormer, flat coping and end stacks. Older wing on right return has one 12-pane sash on ground floor and 3 windows on 1st floor, one a 16-pane sash, the others with intermediate glazing bars removed. To rear: flush-panelled door and many irregularly-place 12-pane sashes including large paired 12-pane stair window. Interior: staircase with stick balusters, cast-iron newel and wreathed handrail. 6-panelled doors and internal shutters. , | Facts |
