Notes NORHAM NORHAM STATION NT 94 NW 5/90 House, offices, waiting room , platforms and lamps at Norham Station GV II Disused station including 2 platforms with 4 lamps, the station master's house, the waiting room, the office and telegraph office, the porter's room and a store, formerly the base of the signal box. 1849 for the York, Newcastle and Berwick Railway. Waiting room, office and store, and the lamps probably late C19. House, platforms and porter's room ashlar, the other buildings wood boarding; Welsh slate roofs. House: Tudor style. Single storey towards platform, 2 storeys to rear. 2 plus 3 bays. Lower left section has 2 boarded doors. Right section has one- light window in the centre and flanking 3-light mullioned windows. Gabled roof with 2 end stacks of paired, corniced shafts. Waiting room and offices: single storey, 4 bays. Panelled doors in 2nd and 4th bays, small-paned casement windows in 1st and 3rd bays. Original telegraph notice attached and enamel signs on doors. Gabled roof. Porter's room separated from office by flight of stone steps. Single storey, one bay with boarded door. Gabled roof with banded end stack. 2 storeys to rear with single-storey, 5-bay lean-to which has boarded doors in outer bays and two 12-pane and one 18-pane Yorkshire sashes. Two 8-pane Yorkshire sashes on 1st floor. On each platform 2 Victorian gas lamps probably re-set on later concrete posts. They are supported on curved iron brackets, have the station name on the glass, antefixae at the corners and little onion-shaped finials Railway Stations of the North East: Hoole: Newton Abbott and London, 1985. , Facts
