Notes | FORD ETAL NT 9239 16/78 Monument c.50 yards east of Etal Manor GV II Monument. c.1850 and 1893. Sandstone. Square, moulded base and tapering rectangular block c.5 ft. high with shallow pyramidal top. Inscribed: As an humble mark of gratitude to providence for happiness passed on these estates during a period of thirty-two years. Frederick Fitz Clarence had this inscription made on leaving for India. Beneath this in a moulded panel is inscribed llth January 1898 As a tribute of thankfulness to the bounteous giver of all good for unnumbered mercies during his life James Laing inscribed this on his 70th birthday. Lord Fitz Clarence died in India in 1854. , | Facts |
