Notes | ROTHBURY HIGH STREET NU 0501 (North side) 25/294 Ogle House GV II House. Early C18, refenestrated late C18, rear extension early C19, alterations including carriage entrance c.1880. Squared stone with roughly-tooled quoins and tooled dressings; Welsh slate roof. 2 storeys, 4 bays. Segmental carriage arch on right; 4-pane sash windows in raised stone surrounds with narrow chamfers; traces of earlier windows and of original doorway in 3rd bay. Steeply-pitched roof with coped gables on moulded kneelers and stepped-and- banded end stacks. Rear elevation shows arched stair window holding 12-pane sash with radial head. Wing to rear left, in 2 parts: inner section shows 4-pane sashes in alternating-block surrounds; lower end part shows early C18 masonry and contemporary doorway with heavy lintel and slightly-inclined jambs. Interior: carriage entrance shows corbelling supporting upper part of stack truncated c.1880; and re-set doorway from front: 4-panel door with 2-pane fanlight under archivolt with imposts and moulded keystone.
