Notes Former school site that was declared surplus following closure in 2011. The school buildings were demolished shortly after closure and the site was cleared in readiness for redevelopment. These works were enabled by an earlier approval dating from 2013 (13/01267/DEMGDO). As well as footprint of the school buildings and infrastructure, the wider site includes the former playing fields. An application for development of 66 homes was submitted in 2016 (16/03954/FUL). This remained pending for a number of years. Progress did progress continue, notably with the scheme being amended to an increased yield of 71 homes, but it has eventually been withdrawn in 2024. Brownfield land (0.61ha) represents around 25% of the site area - a yield of around 16 dwellings can be calculated based on methodological approach. For indicative purposes in the BF Register, the original SHLAA site (ref 5059) is split to reflect brownfield and greenfield elements - total area of 2.39ha. It is understood that the site remains available for redevelopment, and that revised proposal is currently being drawn up. Currently considered developable (6-10 years). The site is also allocated for housing in the Northumberland Local Plan (2022). NB - the allocation is for an indicative 66 homes. Facts
